#1490 feature request: mail attachment in linked mails

Hi Merijn,
this is not a bug but a feature request.
When mails are linked to other modules and any attachments especially mail attachments are not displayed and therefor not accessible. Attached screenshot demonstrates the difference: in the mail module a sent mail displayes the attached mail, in the linked view the attached mail to the sent mail is lost.

    Hi Merijn,
    I don't entirely understand what you mean with "source of that mail". Basically you can reproduce this feature request by doing the following:

    Symptom: if a mail is linked to another object with the function "save as... -> link.." then the attached files to that email are not shown when calling up this linked email within the linked module.

    How to reproduce this?
    create a ticket in module "tickets"
    in module "Email" right-click an email that has a file attached (i.e. Excel sheet) and go to "Save as -> link"
    search for the created ticket and link the mail to the ticket
    go to ticket module and double-click on linked mail
    Result: the mail lacks the attached Excel sheet.

    Hi Wolfgang,

    I tried to repeat your steps but here the attachment shows fine (opening it from the ticket it was linked to).

    What happens if you email and Excel file to yourself (via GO) and link that email to something. Does the attachment disappear then?

    By "source of the email" I would guess Merijn wants you to right click the email and do "Save as file", and send him the resulting eml file.

    beg my pardon. With my recent comment I completely missed the topic.
    Of course, a mail linked to a ticket still has the attachment available.

    Now to the feature request: I meant a mail linked to a ticket that itself has another mail attached. In that special case - linked mail with an attachment type mail i.e. .eml - is not shown once linked to a ticket.

    Pls try to verify.

    This is probably fixed in 4.0. Can you test it in 4.0 now that we've upgraded your system?

    Hi Merijn,
    when you select in the ticket module a linked mail there's now a "link" symbol displayed. When trying to link another mail to it and press enter the mail is not attached.

    You can't link e-mails to e-mails because you can't view attached links in an e-mail. It only works from contact -> mails or project to mails etc.
