Hi Zigmars, The source code for network DiffServ QoS can be found on the GridSim website. More specifically: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=94592 If you have problems with downloading it, then email me. If you are welcome to contribute more functionalities into it. I can create a new branch so you can use the SVN at SourceForge for your development. GridSim has two mailing lists: gridsim-users (at) lists.sourceforge.net - for any queries and feedbacks gridsim-developers (at) lists.sourceforge.net - for contributing to GridSim anthony ---------------------------------------- Anthony Sulistio PhD student Room 5.18a, ICT Building 111 Barry St Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering The University of Melbourne Victoria 3053, Australia Telp: +61 3 8344 1360 Fax: +61 3 9348 1184 (ATTN: Anthony Sulistio - Room 5.18a) Email: an...@cs... Hello, Unfortunately, due to a design issue, an entity in GridSim can only connect through one Input and Output port. This is also due to SimJava definition of ports, i.e. they are unidirectional (1-way) communication links. To be able to send 3 files simultaneously, I may suggest that you use the Rate-controlled scheduler, see the example on http://www.gridbus.org/gridsim/example/net_index.html#gridsim_ex4 In the simulation setup, you partition the link bandwidth into 3 different percentages, say 30%, 30% and 40%. Then file A, B and C have different ToS. However, I am not completely sure whether all of them will be arriving at the same time (if they have the same size), since packets are enqued and dequed at the I/O ports and routers. Try this and tell us whether it works on not. anthony ---------------------------------------- Anthony Sulistio PhD student Room 5.18a, ICT Building 111 Barry St Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering The University of Melbourne Victoria 3053, Australia Telp: +61 3 8344 1360 Fax: +61 3 9348 1184 (ATTN: Anthony Sulistio - Room 5.18a) Email: an...@cs... Hello, ?? escribió: > hello everyone: > I have build a topology of grid environment by gridsim toolkit, but I > want Gridresources comunicating with a Scheduler without network. How > can I do this? You can do this by means of events. This is, an entity extending GridUser can execute the following code: super.send(destID, GridSimTags.SCHEDULE_NOW + delay, GridSimTags.EVENT_CODE, data_object); This code sends an "EVENT_CODE" event, from he current entity to the entity "destID". The event is delivered at the destination with a "delay", and the event carries the "data_object" data. Then, in the destination entity, u must catch the event. For example, in the body method u can have something like this: ... case GridSimTags.EVENT_CODE: processEvent(ev); break; ... In the processEvent(ev); function u must get the data from the event and perform the processing u need. > In addition, is there any difference between the following constructors: > public *GridSim*(String name, double baudRate)throws Exception > public *GridSim*(String name,Link <mk:@MSITStore:D:%5C%3F%3F%5C%3F%3F%3F%3F%3F%5Cgridsim%5Chowto%5Cgridbus_gridsim_doc.chm::/www.gridbus.org/gridsim/doc/gridsim/net/Link.html> link)throws Exception There is no difference, because in the first one u provide the baud rate of a link that will be created in the method, and in the second u provide the link object already created. Hope this helps. If u have any doubt, don't hesitate and ask us again. Yonggang Liu, You are right, the current space shared policy of GridSim converts the parallel gridlets into sequential ones and executes them using one PE only. You could implement your own allocation policy that allocates multiple PEs to one gridlet. You can use the space shared policy as an example. Alternatively, you can use an extension of GridSim on which I have been working. Please note that the extensions have not been incorporated into GridSim. The source code is available as branch 3 of the SVN repository at sourceforge.net. I have been working on it and making a few changes, so the source code may occasionally change. The policies implemented there include aggressive (EASY) backfilling with configurable number of pivots (e.g. similar to the MAUI implementation) and configurable job ordering heuristics, conservative backfilling, among others. Please note that this code is not part of the GridSim distribution. If you do use it, please let me know whether you find any bugs on it or not. Hi, First, set up the desired network topology. Using InfoPacket in GridSim determine the bandwidth of the link you want to send the file through. Compute the total time required for sending the file with that bandwidth (total_time=size/bandwidth). Send the first packet of the file and then send the last packet of the file after total_time. You will have to write your own methods to do this though. Cheers Srikumar. 2008/3/31 lq l <liq...@ya...>: > Hello everyone: > > I am a newer to gridsim. My question is how to use sim_stat or other facility to get info. If it's possible some examples would be great. Thanks in advance, Andrey |

See the readme file: http://www.gridbus.org/gridsim/doc/README.txt Installation and Running GridSim Toolkit ---------------------------------------- There is no special program to install GridSim. You just need to unzip the GridSim file to install. If you want to remove GridSim, then remove the whole $GRIDSIM directory. NOTE: You do not need to compile GridSim source code. The JAR file is provided to compile and to run GridSim applications. Description of the following jar files: * gridsim.jar -- contains both GridSim and SimJava v2.0 class files * simjava2.jar -- contains SimJava v2.0 class files only To compile and run GridSim applications, do the following step: 1) Go the directory where the GridSim's Example1 reside In Unix or Linux: cd $GRIDSIM/examples/Example01 In Windows: cd %GRIDSIM%\examples\Example01 2) Compile the Java source file In Unix or Linux: javac -classpath $GRIDSIM/jars/gridsim.jar:. Example1.java In Windows: javac -classpath %GRIDSIM%\jars\gridsim.jar;. Example1.java 3) Running the Java class file In Unix or Linux: java -classpath $GRIDSIM/jars/gridsim.jar:. Example1 In Windows: java -classpath %GRIDSIM%\jars\gridsim.jar;. Example1 NOTE: * $GRIDSIM or %GRIDSIM% is the location of the GridSim Toolkit package. * If you are using Java IDEs, such as Eclipse, JBuilder and JCreator, their instructions (with screenshots) are found on the GridSim website. * Running GridSim of this version requires a lot of memory since there are many objects to be created. Therefore, it is recommended to have at least 512MB RAM or increase JVM heap size when running Java for large simulation experiments. For example: java -Xmx300m -classpath $GRIDSIM/jars/gridsim.jar:. Example1 (max. heap size is 300MB). ---------------------------------------- Anthony Sulistio PhD student Room 5.18a, ICT Building 111 Barry St Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering The University of Melbourne Victoria 3053, Australia Website: http://www.csse.unimelb.edu.au/~anthony ---------------------------------------- On Mon, 10 Mar 2008, Raja Rajagopal wrote: > hello sir, > Now i am using Simjava. Can i know the information about How i ll install(sim java) in windows mode and if its any necessary for gridsimulator.please answer soon. > > > --------------------------------- > Never miss a thing. Hi Jack, The way u can do that is by means of events. Resources can send an event to themselves, and on the reception of the event, they can do the statistics u want. The way to implement that is quite easy. In the body function of resources u have to add some piece of code like the following: super.send(super.get_id(), time_period, YOUR_EVENT); and, in the processEvent() function, u have to catch that event. Hope this is useful, Agustin KWAN Shun Kit Jack escribió: > Hi, > > My name is Jack Kwan and I am a student in Hong Kong, I am now studying > self-managing approaches in Grid computing systems. > > In my developed model, there is a server which accepts the Gridlets > submitted by the User, and do some regular calculations/predictions at > regular time interview. Thanks, Vanderq I'm sorry my poor english. But i want switch the schedule algorithms *in run time during the simulation *, agreed with different situations of the Grid. For example: - If the number of arrival rate job is high, i would like use the algorithm 'X'. - But if number of arrival rate job is decreasing (until be low) , i would like my scheduler switch the algorithm 'X' for use algorithm 'Y', during the same simulation. I would know how edit the parameters arrival rate jobs and how switch the algorithms during the same simulation by dynamic reconfiguration. Because, i would build a scheduler adaptive for different behaviours of the Grid. Hi! Alexander, Good talk you again. I had another doubt. I would like in my experiments to switch scheduling algorithms during the simulation (run time), for differents situations of the Grid. For example, any algorithm batch for high rate arrive jobs and any algorithm on-line for low rate arrive jobs. But i don't know, if GridSim provide support for switch algorithm. If not offer support, i would like implements this switch by reconfiguration dynamic with adaptive framework (Adapta, used in my university). Because in master thesis i will analyse the switch the algorithms for use in Grid when happen differents situations and i would like simulate and analyse its. Tanks, for your atention []'s, Regards, -- Gilberto Cunha Filho gil...@gm... LSD - Laboratório de Sistemas Distrbuidos UFMA |

I want to move a *Gridlet* from one Machine to another and I want to leave some information in the nodes which the *Gridlet* is visiting as it moves towards its destination. I couldn't find this capability in *GridSim*. Could you please help me if there is a way. Thank you very much in advance, Azin |

Hi Gilberto, =20 No problem, glad to help. =20 The execution time of a job depends on the size of the job (Gridlet length)= , and the characteristics of the resource executing the job. The faster the resource, the smaller the execution time. And the smaller th= e job, the smaller the execution time. =20 Basically, in a space shared resource, you can calculate the execution time= , just by dividing the length of the Gridlet/job by the speed of the Proces= sing Element (PE) of the resource. However, you might not now the waiting time at the resource. If a job arriv= es at a resource, and no free PE is avaiable (all are busy), it is placed o= n a waiting queue. With no other information available, you can't calculate= the waiting time. This is possible if you exactly know all the job lengths= and submission times, and there is no (random) background noise at the res= ource. =20 You can configure the resource to behave exactly as you want by modifying t= he GridResource.java source file, and using the modified and compiled versi= on to create the resources. =20 Kind regards, Alexander Date: Mon, 28 Jan 2008 08:55:52 -0300From: gil...@gm...To: yang= yu...@hp...; ag...@ds...; va...@ho...Subject: RE: [= GridSim-users] dynamic job arrivals ...CC: gri...@li...urceforge.= net Thanks Alexander, for your attention.and i'm sorry to take your time to rea= d my email. Hi Gilberto, =20 I'm not sure if I understand your question. With conclusion time, do you me= an the response time (time between submitting and receiving the job)?
