hi, i m M.Tech student working with grid computing, i m using gridsim simulatoin for simulate the algorithm of my grid computing. i m getting a problem to schedule (send) the gridlet(job) to resource.Means 1. Since GridSim package uses multi-threaded environment the request for list of Grid Resources might arrive earlier before one or more Grid Resource Entities manage to register themselves to GridInformationService (GIS) entity. Therefore we wait for some micro seconds using the Hold method of GridSim Class. 2. The GIS will return only the Grid Resource IDs. 3. Using the ID obtained in step 2 retrieve Resource Characteristics from Resource Entity. super.send(resourceID, GridSimTags.SCHEDULE_NOW,GridSimTags.RESOURCE_CHARACTERISTICS, this.ID_); resChar = (ResourceCharacteristics) super.receiveEventObject(); resourceName = resChar.getResourceName(); So, i m getting a problem in step 1and 2. how we take the resource_id from GIS. plz help me sir,and give program code as well as possible. thanks. vishnukant soni kiit, bhubneswar vis...@gm... |

Hi I want to simulate a link failure detector by Gridsim toolkit, but I don’t know how to start. May you explain to me how I can start? What pre-requirement or matters I should study before starting. May you guide me or determine procedure of it? By the way, are there any simulation toolkits that consider link failure? Thanks |

Is there any detailed user manual to use gridsim on eclipse? I am a new user to both gridsim and to eclipse and so would like to obtain something which is in detail. How do I create a project using the existing example files and how do I run them on eclipse? What kind of output should I expect? Thanks. |

Use: send(int entityID, double delay, int gridSimTag, Object data) implemented by GridSimCore If you do not want to utilise the network support. Or use: send(Sim_port destPort, double delay, int gridSimTag, Object data) implemented by GridSimCore If you intent to use the network. attiqa rehman wrote: > helloto all , > my name is attiqa. Hello I’am a phd student, working on grid scheduling using multi-agent systems. I need to use GridSim to simulate the Grid Computing and I have some questions: - Is something aware of possibilities to parameter a simulation in GridSim without modifying the classes? So is there any GUI to enter the parameter of the simulation? - Can we combine the GridSim simulator with the JADE platform (Java Agent Development Framework)? And if it’s possible how can we do it? Thank you. |

Hi, some people have studied how to generate this information from available Grid logs, see for example: Alexandru Iosup, Mathieu Jan, Ozan Sonmez and Dick Epema, The Characteristics and Performance of Groups of Jobs in Grids, Euro-Par 2007, LNCS 4641, pp. 382--393, Rennes, France. Hi all, I want to simulate an grid environment and test my job scheduling algorithms on it. The environment I want to simulate is a *parameter*-*sweep work flows (SPMD application).* I need a real work flow log of running such application on different grid resources. Anyone has similar experience of using such logs? I tried to find same job's information in .swf work logs! but it seems not to be logged the information that help us to distinguish execution of same jobs on different resources. Thanks for your advice. |

Hi all, I want to simulate an grid environment and test my job scheduling algorithms on it. And I use gridsim 5.0beta, the newest version. The environment I want to simulate is actually an internet which contains PCs and clusters. Users located in different areas submit jobs to a central scheduler. The central scheduler will schedule jobs to different PCs or clusters based on the job requirement and the information about the computing power and memory . Anyone has similar experience of simulating such an grid and implementing the central scheduler? Thanks for your advice. |

Hi everyone, I'm Ivo Nugroho and I'm currently studying at University of Indonesia. I am doing my final research with GridSim to simulate a wide area network for education. This network will be attached with grid ability. I created 958 users, 31 resources, and 41 routers (RIPRouter) with FIFOScheduler and SCFQScheduler. When I run the simulation, I got this warning message: baliRouter.processNetPacket(): Warning - can't find a packet scheduler for Packet #1, out of, 1, with id, 17, from, Output_Bali_Res, to, Sumsel_User_183, tag, 22 I have read this mailing list and found this: http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?thread_name=49BFC7FD.1040008%40bsc.es&forum_name=gridsim-users but I could not solve the problem. Anyone knows what happened here? Thank you so much for your time to read my email and solve my problem :) Ivo Bahar Nugroho Faculty of Computer Science University of Indonesia __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I generated a code source through the VisualModeler, compiled and I executed: javac -Xlint -classpath gridbroker.jar testevm.java java -cp .:gridsim.jar:gridbroker.jar testevm It generated some archives: reportFiletestvm reportFiletestvm.0 reportFiletestvm.1 reportFiletestvm.2 I didn't understand the content of the archives. What they are the generated values? I wait reply. Hi Thanawut, In order to use GridSim 5.0, you will need at least java 1.5. To run most examples included in the parallel package, you need to provide a workload trace containing the jobs that are submitted to the resource during the simulation. A few workload traces are included in the GridSim distribution to be used as examples. For instance, to run the aggressive backfilling example on a unix/linux environment you will need to type something like: java -cp $GRIDSIM/jars/gridsim.jar;. parallel.agressive.ExampleEASY01 $GRIDSIM/examples/parallel/sdsc_blue_01.txt where $GRIDSIM is the directory where GridSim is installed.
