I am pretty new to the power industry and as part of my company project, I am trying to build a Distribution system using this tool. For this job I am looking into some open source simulation tools like opendss and gridlab-d and I am kinda inclined towards Gridlab-D, mainly because of the fact that the tool is still being developed (I hope it is) and the super quick responses from the support team.
However, I am little bit worried about the GUI part of this tool, as it plays a key role in my project. I wanted to know if there are any chances of releasing this tool with a GUI in near future.
The other important part I wanted to enquire about is the integrability of this tool with other tools like MATLAB, VBA, etc.., and / or scripting languages like python.
Thank you

If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link:
SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory is working with Hitachi to develop a GUI for GridLAB-D under funding from California Energy Commission.
In addition, SLAC has been developing a python module to run a GridLAB-D instance inside python3, which allows much tighter integration of python code and gridlabd code. See github.com/dchassin/gridlabd for details (this is a fork of GridLAB-D 4.0).

Thank you for the swift reply Mr. Chassin. Can I also have an email ID of yours through which I can contact you. I am currently working at Duke Energy and our team is very much excitedly looking forward for some potential partners who can collaborate with us in developing a product for the existing Distribution Systems. Myself and my Team Lead would be more than happy to talk more about this with you in person / web meeting. Thank you, much in advance for your time and considerations.
