Hi Nick, The current latest version should run on Mac OS 14, if running an M Chip Mac, should run under Rosetta. Let me know if that is not the case, don't have an M series Mac yet.
Hi - are you plannng to release a version that's compatible with Mac OS14?
You should be good to make a new backup to the USB stick from your GR-55. Always good to keep a recent backup to USB stick should you change patch settings or add new patch's. Had an issue a few years back when starting a gig, my GR-55 went silent and no output. Did a restore from a recent backup and it came back to life.
Hi Colin, Super! Thank you very much, it worked perfectly. You are the best. Should I replace the backup stick in the GR-55? Thanks again and best regards from Bingen am Rhein. Hi Stefan, I have loaded the image file into my GR-55 and found the system data was corrupted (bass mode GK settings for GK set 6 had all offset by 25 bytes), I have repaired the data and re-saved a good config with all your setup and patches intact. The repaired file system now works with the editor.
Hello Colin, Thanks for the quick reply. I hope you can read the data. Hi Stefan, Can you please forward an image of your GR-55, done using the side USB port, GR-55 Backup to USB memory stick, and email the image file to gumtownbassman@yahoo.com so I can try to replicate the issue (and fix what is needed). Regards Colin.
Hello everyone, Since the latest update for the Floorboard I have the problem that when the patches from the GR-55 are loaded into the software on my Windows 11 PC the program crashes on the PC. I can see all the patches in the list but the floorboard crashes as soon as they are all loaded. Can anyone help me with this?
Dear Gumtownbassman, sorry for replying so late: I installed your update version 1 week ago and: Tatata... It works!!!! Unbelievably good you are!!! No messing round with Windows or backups was necessary! Thank you so much for your utmost support!!! (I am not sure about the scrolling display though... Maybe in the more recent version? I will try that... )
Has this GR-55 issue been resolved for those who posted here ? If not I would like to help get this sorted for you. A new version has also been updated too (4th November). Please let me know if yes or no. Cheers
A new (windows so far) version has been posted (20231101) with a lot of data structure changes, extra data filters, and a new feature to auto load in the current patch as patch pedals are pressed, and controller data is shown in a scrolling display.
Hi All, I have been working with someone who had similar issues, and the end result was the GR-55 at times gets an internal marble come loose (data corruption in the system area), and requires a backup (to file through the editor and not via the USB side port thumb drive as this copies the corrupted data), so make a backup to file of user patches and system/global data, Factory Reset the GR-55 (in the GR-55 menu far right end), and restore the patch and system files into the GR-55, and all should...
Have a look at the Windows Security and Privacy settings, here is a notice from Boss which will apply to all connected devices and software: NOTE for WINDOWS 10 USERS: If the BOSS TONE STUDIOS is receiving a CONNECTION FAILURE. Hi gumtownbassman, Diana Jones I have the same problem. Everything worked perfectly. Without me updating something, nothing worked anymore. I think this has something to do with a Windows Update (USB?). On my laptop (win 11) I reinstalled the last USB driver for Win 10/11 and the editor software 20220511 for the first time. it works without any problems. As we know, it doesn't work on my two desktops (Win10). After a lot of experimenting, I had success installing the Win8.1 driver from the Roland...
That is a great job you have done there.

Have just posted an updated Windows version, and Mac + Linux ones to follow tomorow. Check all Windows updates are current too, and check in Permissions & Security for 'Audio device Mic" is enabled (affects the midi I/O from the GR-55 USB driver too). Cheers :-)
Managed to change in Mac Os environment. Created my own ˜Skin" changing some image files, if you are interested, I can post the files in a repository of your choice.

Will have to look further into this, I am currently using Windows 10 laptop and have no issues with reading/writing, or saving/loading patches. Also have a Windows 11 PC which I will try again on. Will report back on my findings.
Hi gumtownbassman, any good idea from your side? I meanwhile tried to investigate a bit deeper and I borrowed a tablet with win 10 and installed the floorboard, as well as the (actual) driver from Roland. This now can read the patches from the GR-55, I can also change them on the screen and it changes them in the GR-55 . But when I press "Write" in floorboard, floorboard will take me to the "write" prompt, but when I commit to save the patch, it will not store the changes on the GR-55. Means, when...

LOL. That was a long time ago 😊 At that point I was looking for a way to configure the GR-55 using Floorboard. That still would be a useful feature. I stopped using the GR-55 quite a while ago because I play electric violin and the GR-55 was designed for and works much better with guitar: triggering GR-55 synth instruments is accurate (with fewer errors and artifacts) when you pluck a string rather than bow it—though GR-55 effects work well with violin. Now, my wife is using the GR-55 to generate...
Hi Len, actually it was your question, which started this thread, or did I get that wrong? "Has there been any thought of creating a Floorboard app that could access the GR-55 via Bluetooth from an iPhone or IPad?"
No evidence of Bluetooth support in either the GR-55 manual or on my GR-55 itself. Since Bluetooth is a high latency protocol, not sure why you would want support for it on the GR-55. Hi Gumtownbassman, does the GR-55 have bluetooth?!? I was not aware of this and I cannot find any hint... Or how should this work?
Hi, unfortunately it was switched off... Now I tried it either setting: ON and OFF, but it won't work. I also detached the cable from the guitar to the GR-55, still the same error message.. There IS a connection though. When I click on a pattern number in the floorbard, the GR-55 will switch to that pattern. So I can see they communicate. But when the floorboard starts uploading the pattern information the error message appears. Strange enough, it worked before. I personally didn't change anything...
Hi !! Try switching off the "Guitar to Midi" in the system settings, if strumming your guitar while a patch data transferring is going, will interleave guitar midi data in with the patch data. Currently is a slight quirk with the editor.
Hello everybody, I recently have an issue to control my GR55 from the floorboard app. When I try to connect to the GR-55 in the floorboard app, it gives me the error message: "Patch data received is incorrect!634". (See attachment) The GR-55 Librarian from Roland is working though and I can download the patchnames there. I am working with a DELL Laptop, Windows 11. I updated the drivers of the GR-55 and I uninstalled and reinstalled the floorboard software (several times). I have been using different...
All good, must Roland USB driver compatibility with Ventura. Cheers Colin.
I found the problem, it only connects to my mac through midi, not usb. sorry for the alarm On Thu, Sep 7, 2023 at 4:27 PM gumtownbassman gumtownbassman@users.sourceforge.net wrote: That does not sound good, I will investigate and update if required. After last update, Floorboard is no longer working. Now using MACOS Ventura 13.5.1 (22G90) No connection established between the unit and the Mac. Used to work great I have a Dell laptop dedicated to that, running on Win 98, and this one connects, no prob Any thoughts?
