Hello, i tried to install Gretl on a Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit system but during "make" action it gives me this:

/usr/bin/ld: /usr/local/lib/libfftw3.a(mapflags.o): relocation R_X86_64_32 against `.rodata' can not be used when making a shared object; recompile with -fPIC
/usr/local/lib/libfftw3.a: could not read symbols: Bad value
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make[1]: [libgretl-1.0.la] Errore 1
make[1]: uscita dalla directory "/home/niccolo/Scaricati/gretl-1.9.12/lib"
make:
[lib] Errore 2

I tried "make -fPIC" but doesn't work.
Then i thought it could be due to .a format of libfftw3.a archive, but i don't know what i should do to open this file.

Any ideas?

This is not a gretl bug. You need to install the shared libfftw3 library
to build gretl. You probably need the packages libfftw3-3 and libfftw3-dev.
