I would like to know if there is a way to add Greenshot to the windows context 'open with' menu when right clicking on images. This would seem more intuitive than right clicking on the system tray icon. There is the option of opening the image editor by default, but I do not need to markup every image. An alternative could be to add a potential shortcut for this action. Am I missing a possible work around?

Greenshot is one of the best tool out there. My daily driver. Really appreciate the development team. I have an enhancement request. I often take number of screenshots for a particular workflow and then edit these screenshots into Greenshot Image Editor to add some text or shapes. Is it possible to dump/store all these edited screenshots into a single document with one click? (The document can be PDF/Docx or any other common type). This could be a great feature for those who are creating a tutorial...

When I right click on an arbitrary file or folder in right Details pane of wide spread XYplorer (as replacement of File Explorer) then the context menu appears When I now press <print> key with enabled Greenshot and and try to save the current screen INCLUDING (!!!!) the context menu into a *.png file then this does NOT work.</print> When I use the build-in File Explorer it works. Hi, If I take a screen capture, and use Greenshot to add annotations (text, arrows, etc.) I can move those annotations around all I want. If I save the file (PNG) and then later use Greenshot to "Open image from file," those annotations are now embedded in the image, and I can't move them. Is there a way to save the file so I can later edit it with Greenshot (moving the parts around)?

I'm sorry for gravedigging, but my Google search led me to here, and partly from this post, I think I found an issue that is still a thing in 2022 - and while digging, I found a solution, so if anyone else gets this problem, here's a workaround. If multiple monitors is slightly misaligned on the bottom, Greenshot have a hard time using the recticle. I'm not entirely sure it's the same thing, but I believe so. Attached is how my three-monitor workplace setup looks like when using Greenshot. It works...

I have reinstalled twice now with OCR plugin selected each time but on the Greenshot plugins page after a reboot the OCR plugin is not listed :-( Each time I did a reinstall the install did an uninstall first. On my Windows 10 machine at home it works with Greenshot 100%

I've installed Greenshot a few weeks ago and played around with it. Today I was having a closer look at some settings in my pi-hole. Looking at some statistics I found that I have a DNS request for getgreenshot.org EVERY 5 min. Check for update is set to 14 days (2 weeks). So what causes this rather high frequency DNS request?? I wonder if it is possible to capture the full, current webpage inside the browser (Firefox, Chrome or IE). Not only the currently visible part should be saved (as *.png) but there should be an auto-scroll function which captures the web page part outside the current visible browser window. Can Greenshot do this? I guess Greenshot must be implemened as plugin for the browser. Thank you Thomas

Hello. I have a problem with the "ini". I set OutputFilePath = $ {USERPROFILE}\Pictures and OutputFileAsFullpath = $ {USERPROFILE}\Pictures. In the settings window, the path is correct. See Screenshot. Unfortunately, the pictures are always stored on the desktop. If I change the path by hand, the images are saved correctly. Did i forgot something? Many thanks. Christian

It has happened twice recently. first time on May31 but it came good easily, so did not think much of or about it, but now it is irreversible. Have used Revo Uninstaller to remove all trace of it, and then (re)installed v1.2.10.6, but the problem was not rectified. I have also experimented with clipboard settings in Preferences; Expert tab; to no avail. Would love to have it working properly again.

@Robin Krom It's 3 years since your post. There have been no commits to v1.3 in 1Y. It sounds like OCR works for most people, probably my situation is perhaps related to corportate environment or something.

Using 1.2.10 Build 6 myself, and this occurs there. And that seems to be the absolute newest version from 2017(as you can download on greenshot.org right now): Greenshot-RELEASE-1.2.10.6 09 Aug 2017 This is me saying it's still an issue in the newest version, so upgrading won't fix it.

As the original post to this issue, we are using the same ver. 1.1.7 ver 17 as pushed by our Main IT group. They have not published a new version to install of our users but a user that I know of experiencing this same issue. Is there way to workaround or prevent this issue from occuring with this ver. of Greenshort.

I have 1.2.10 and this seems to be an issue still -as the person over here said, about scaling. Because this happens on my 4k TV too. See example attachment. It takes screenshots in 1080 and leaves the rest(3/4 of the screen) in black. And I have scaling 175%(not 200% as the other dude). Any help on solving this?

1.1.5 is way to old and we cannot support that. The version has something to do with that, as we have some versions where we had a bug. Update to the "current" 1.2.10.6 and than we can talk...

Googled symptoms and someone advised this has to do with one monitor having a different resolution or DPI. This may be true, but after checking settings on all 3 monitors, verifying they were identical, and not having this issue last week, I can say that this is not (always) the case. I dock my laptop...

There is this another capture program that has a nice feature, that it would be great to have in Greenshot. The feature is Capture Scrolling Window. That would be in addition to Capture Window. So when one chooses, Capture Scrolling Window, Greenshot would scroll chosen window and capture all of it, not just visible part of the window.

Sourceforge no longer has all the downloads, we are abandoning this as they could not help us with keeping our site stable. We use code signing (authenticode) on ALL the binaries of Greenshot, including the installer exe, greenshot.exe and all dlls, this makes it possible for you to verify if someone tampered with the files. You can just check if the signature is valid from within the file explorer via the properties of the file.

Hi Thomas, you can configure log4net (the logging framework we are using for Greenshot) to use minimal locking, i.e. file is locked only when a log is actually written. Please keep in mind that this setting can affect performance in case you turn on logging again, which is why this is not the default behavior. You can activate minimal locking by adding a single line to log4net.xml: <lockingModel type="log4net.Appender.FileAppender+MinimalLock" /> See the log4net config examples for a full example....

Ok, thank you. This might turn of logging. But the actual core problem is that the file "Greenshot.log" is still opened at startup and BLOCKED during whole Greenshot runtime. This cause some problems with other programs like backup and indexing tools. If the logging is turned of the way you suggested it should NOT be opened at startup. Could you fix this in the next release? Thank you Thomas

We're getting far more user feedback than we can handle, even though we spend quite a portion of our Greenshot time on communication only :-/ To turn off logging, locate the file log4net.xml, which is located in the same folder as the Greenshot.exe file. Create a backup of that file and open it in a text editor. (Note: if Greenshot is installed in your "Programs" directory, you might need to do this as Windows administrator.) Instead of <level value="INFO"/> you can insert <level value="OFF"/>...

Now I want to keep up the script to take fullscreen snapshots (so i can see the day and time on the rightside below the image.) i have configured greenshot to use a shortcut as "Ctrl+G" and save into spesific path. Because send keys cannot send {printscreen} to any application, i have cehanged this setting. Look Here: Anyway the last line of my code seems not working....

Hi @all! Is there a way to automatically take screenshots at regular intervals? It could be used in so many ways, so I thought there must be some info on this here in the forums, but I had no luck. I want to capture the rendering progress of a picture over time. This way I can analyze what parts of the picture take up the most time and optimize that section. Also, you can capture your creations e.g. in Photoshop in a nice timelaps. Thanks for your time. TS

Now that very high res displays are becoming increasingly common I'd like to suggest better icon scaling when using such high res screens. I have a 4k laptop and several 4k dell displays running at > 3000xsomething-silly. When using Greenshot on this type of set up the toolbar icons, both horizontal and veritcal, appear to be amazingly small. This is what I see. https://goo.gl/t34YCw Olly
