I played a lot with UML in the last days. I tested the "Poseidon for UML" from gentleware and Visual Paradigm.
I am just wondering, how good a development with an UML Tool is. I rebuild some classes in Poseidon and everything looks fine for me. But without a Round Trip development, it's hard, because all changes must be done inside the tool.
To use the round trip development, I had to buy one of the tools first. My question is now: Does anybody has some experience with one of the tools? Poseidon looks fine, but when parsing some existing classes, loading and saving needs a lot of time. So mybe the Visual Paradigm could be much better.
Another question is:
How good is a teamwork with one of these tools? Poseidon saves everything ziped inside one file. So CVS couldn't be used.
It would be fine, If you could tell me your experience with UML.
Regards,
Konrad

I have used UML, but not a tool that supported round trip development. Such a thing would be very good to have, I suspect, but, due to cost issues, for now I will have to do everything by hand ;)

Isn't that a "hard work"? When you do everything inside the UML tool, you cannot use a good IDE. And in the moment I think, that you even cannot use a tool like CVS.
I am just wondering, if it would be good to use something like that for the whole project. When we have some tools with round trip development, we could still keep the final source inside cvs. Developers must not have the UML tool to work on the project (But maybe there will be some restrictions to the developer).
What UML tool do you use?
With kind regards,
Konrad
