X11 is a client-server system. In this case, GraphicsMagick is the client. You need to have an X11 server running somewhere. This could be a computer that normally comes with X11 (e.g. Linux) or it could be be added to Windows. For example, Cygwin comes with an X11 server. Once you have the X11 server started, you need to make sure that the DISPLAY environment variable is set appropriately (or use GM's -display option to specify the display to use). Some X11 servers require some additional authentication.
