Ended up using jhead. 2009/5/26 Bob Friesenhahn < bfr...@si... > On Tue, 26 May 2009, Derek Ekins wrote: Hi, I need to orient an image to it's correct orientation based on it's exif data. Can GraphicsMagick do this? Or do I need to use some other tool? While GraphicsMagick can retrieve the EXIF information for you, it does not currently provide an auto-orient feature. There is support for orientation in the data structures, but it is not used yet. Jhead will work, but that might be something nice to have. By default the EXIF orientation would be ignored, but an "orient" flag could be used to tell "convert" to act upon it: convert exif.jpg -orient oriented.jpg The method would have to not only reorient the image if the EXIF data contains an orientation other than the current GM orientation, but would have to update or remove the EXIF data so if you run convert -orient on the image again, it does not change the orientatio further. GraphicsMagick is based on the work of volunteers. Are you interested in volunteering to implement this? As far as stripping EXIF goes, GraphicsMagick is currently very good at doing that. ;-) Bob -- Bob Friesenhahn bfr...@si..., http://www.simplesystems.org/users/bfriesen/ GraphicsMagick Maintainer, http://www.GraphicsMagick.org/ |
