Problem running Granule on Windows XP. CardFiles
Brought to you by:
vlg
The steps are:
Step 1 - I create a new CardFile on menu: CardFile>New
Step 2 - I associate a Deck with this new CardFile
Step 3 - I save the CardFile
Step 4 - I close Granule and open again
Step 5 - I try open the CardFile and the software show me: "Invalid CardBox File: ..."
Log file, as asked.
File Added: vocabulary.cdf
CardFile created
Deck file created
File Added: Vocabulario.dkf
I was able to load your vocabulary.cdf with no issue.
The granule.log file you have attached covers Steps 1-4.
Can you execute step 5 and attach the log file and use different log filename to be sure?
What is the reason give after "Invalid CardBox File: ..."?
Perhaps, the issues that you see somehow is related to your local language setting?
Either way, I would like to get to the buttom of this.
thanks,

Hi Vlag,
Sorry for confusion, I didn't do all steps. In Step 4 I just close CardFile, and in Step 5 I try open the CardFile again.
However, I execute Step 5 again (open the program and try open a CardFile) and put new log file. I put my screen too.
Respectfully,
Raul

Thanks for the log files and the snapshot.
Looks like Granule cannot stat() the file. When an attempt is made
to load the file, the code tests to see if file exists and if so,
whether it is a regular text file. I am not familiar much with
WinXP environment, but my guess would be that because you
put your card and deck files in C:\PROGRAM FILES\Granule-14.0-7...,
the stat() call fails. It must be that WinXP restricts application
like Granule to peek at the system own files which it thinks it is
since they are in C:\PROGRAM FILES...
Try to move the files some place other than C:\PROGRAM FILES.
If my guess is right, anywhere on C:\ drive would do.
let me know how it goes,

Hi Vlad,
I put the files on C:\ as you suggested, and it works normally.
Then I put in the folder named "C:\Francês" and the Granule shows me same message error. I change folder name to "C:\Frances" (look I change 'ê' by 'e') and it works well. I put the folder again on "C:\PROGRAM FILES\Granule-1.4.0-7-win32\Arquivos\Frances" and works well. I think the error message is relation with special character like "ê".
Thanks,
Raul.
