Alex, This looks good. I think it is very useful. I'd recommend instead of checking the Notes on every keypress, we check it on a notebook page change. This would eliminate a lot of checks. Instead of on every key press, it would change only when the user changes the tab. If someone is editing the note, it should be pretty obvious if the note exists.
