Since I cannot reproduce this, I need some information. Try the
following command from the command-line:
python -c "import xml.sax"
If gramps is attempting to load _xmlplus.sax, then this will probably
fail. On RH 7, this should succeed. Gramps only attempts to load
_xmlplus if xml fails.
If this succeeds, then I'll need to work with you to get some more
If this fails, it is probably due to the installation of PyXML for
python 2. RedHat uses python 1.5.2. My guess is that you downloaded
PyXML from sourceforge, but grabbed the 2.0 version instead of the 1.5
version. Loading the version for 2.0 may have removed the files for
If this is so, uninstall PyXML (rpm --erase PyXML), and either force a
re-install of the 4Suite package to restore the original packages, or go
to http://sourceforge.net/projects/pyxml and download
PyXML-0.6.6-1.5.2.i386.rpm instead of the PyXML-0.6.6-2.0.i386.rpm.
Normally, if you are using RedHat 7.X, it should not be necessary to
install PyXML on your own. RedHat 6.X users will, but RH7 users should
either already have it installed, or should be able to install the
4Suite package from the RH CD's.
