Gramps aside, as a genealogist you should study and understand either "Evidence!" or the first 2 chapters of "Evidence Explained". Not for the style guide but for the clear explanation of what needs to go into a source citation as well as a nice overview of how to analyze a source in context. It's either/or because "Evidence Explained" is an expansion of "Evidence!" with all the cookbook stuff added, and made to read more like a manual. Her publishers made her do it, but they right: Even though it costs 3x more it has outsold "Evidence!" many time over (based on Amazon.com rankings, I didn't ask her). Regards, John Ralls |
