Good heavens... Fedora 13, there's a blast from the past! The authentication request is to ensure that the (ordinary) user (i.e. you) does indeed have the authority to install the software on the system. The password being sought is the super user or root password. If you have forgotten this password, reply and I will give you the method to reset it.
