Jérôme,
I have also had some difficulties with some of these sentences.
Some seems to be unnecessary.; "%s." and "%s - %s."

Making translation for my locale, I listed some sentences, for which I 
do not understand the sense. Any help is welcome!

I kept 'date - place.' sentence for translators (order: Left To Right or Right to Left). Should be named operators or dict (previous post) ? A mapping type issue. Anyway, translation should be easier. :)

For the second one "%s.", I disabled the translation mark, but I suppose I should use the same logic: end of line (dot) could be the first character (Hebrew, Arabic). I will make the change too.

Yes, the _ is needed as the point is not needed for all languages.

Perhaps we should add a sentence to the documentation to make this clear.

Something like:  "Provide translatable format strings even when a full 
sentence is not required."

Concerning issue nr.1. I removed the translation of that string. The GUI 
is such that this condition can not happen, so only developers might run 
into this.
