Hi, Doug, thank you for your input! Am Freitag, den 14.11.2008, 10:21 -0500 schrieb Douglas S. Do you suggest a) that the user should be much more flexible in what he defines as the date format of choice than he is now (now he can only select from 5 hardcoded patterns), but one or two choices would still be defined in a global preferences dialog, and all reports and screen displays would use these global date preferences, or b) that there is no preferred date format globally, but each report would allow (and require) the user to enter the date format he wants to use for that report, or c) that the user can globally define patterns, and each reports gives a list of these user-defined patterns to select the date format from? My current understanding of how name display works is that the user choses a global name display pattern in the preferences (where he is very free), but that one pattern is then used in all reports and screen views. This seems to be close to option a), but I'm not sure I've grasped all features for name display. Thanks, Reinhard |
