In 2.1/2.2 there will be more than one type of filter. 2.0 only allowed person filters. 2.2 will allow person filters, family filters, event filters, etc. So the reason that the filter editor shows up in Person, Pedigree and Relationship is that these views are Person views. Eventually, in Family View, the filter editor will allow you to edit and apply Family filters. In Event View, you will be able to edit and apply Event filters, and so on and so forth. The text in the menus has being changed to reflect this. Under Edit, you will see that the current label is "Person Filter Editor" in these views. Also, a not-fully functional version of the filter sidebar is available in Family View. Eventually, this will be available in many of the other views as well. The filter editor is under the Edit menu because it is now in integral part of the program - it is no longer a plugin. And it fits along with the Column editor. (The Edit menu now holds the column and filter Editors - kind of makes since to me to group the Editors under the Edit menu) Every once it a while, there is a bit of rationale for the things we do :-) Don |
