We (the GRAMPS project) release the source code, which is platform
independent. Packaging for a specific platform or distribution is done
by others. In some cases, it is done by the distribution, in other cases
it is done by individuals (usually people active in the project)

Usually, when a person creates a package, he/she will make an
announcement on the mailing list.
