Hi, should anybody have time and creative talent, we could use new icons for export and import in development version. Submissions must satisfy Tango guidelines and be 48px x 48px svg, see details: http://www.gramps-project.org/wiki/index.php?title=GRAMPS_icon_set See trunk for how the present icons look. Benny |

Dear Benny: I think the current icon set for gramps 3.0 is pretty good already! I went through the entire list of them. Pretty good graphic work. How cool.... I have no graphic talent, but I like them already... Sincerely, Rob G. Great! Just note that the icon set must be cc attribution or GPL or one of the other open creative licenses. That is needed for inclusion in eg Debian repos. I did most of the new icons by reusing elements of other free icon sets, but for import/export of genealogy data, I have no idea myself how to represent this. And as I do mostly coding now, I am hard pressed to find time to do icons. Benny. 2007/11/13, Jason Simanek <jsi...@gm...>: > > Hello, > > I am a graphic designer/web developer. I'll take a look at the SVG files available on the link you provided and try to work in the same fashion. Perhaps there could be some discussion on the graphic direction any of you had in mind for the import/export. Jason M. Export is to text files: gedcom, xml (also packaged), ..., import is the inverse. In 3.0 the family tree manager and a family tree are represented by the GRAMPS symbol, a pedigree in brown colors. So perhaps import icon could be a text file with arrow to the gramps pedigree, and export the inverse? At the moment we have decided for 3.0 on the tango style: http://tango.freedesktop.org/Tango_Icon_Theme_Guidelines You can download that theme (http://tango.freedesktop.org/Tango_Icon_Library). To see our icons, the easiest is to download the source: http://www.gramps-project.org/wiki/index.php?title=Brief_introduction_to_SVN#Unstable_development_version_3.0 or http://www.gramps-project.org/wiki/index.php?title=Running_a_development_version_of_Gramps and in the downloaded directory navigate to the dir src/images. There you find in scalable all svg. All icons in the images directory still have to be redone to Tango guidelines. So the import and export icon you find there is the old one. Do these icons still need to be created? I'm itching to take a break from my current projects if they do. I know I was the only person saying they'd take a look, but wanted to make sure I didn't miss something. -Jason On Tue, 2007-11-13 at 16:04 +0100, Benny Malengier wrote: > Export is to text files: gedcom, xml (also packaged), ..., import is > the inverse. > In 3.0 the family tree manager and a family tree are represented by > the GRAMPS symbol, a pedigree in brown colors. > So perhaps import icon could be a text file with arrow to the gramps > pedigree, and export the inverse? > > At the moment we have decided for 3.0 on the tango style: > http://tango.freedesktop.org/Tango_Icon_Theme_Guidelines > You can download that theme > ( http://tango.freedesktop.org/Tango_Icon_Library). Yes, this is still on the TODO. Contact me if questions, or if things are unclear. If you checkout the svn code, you find all images in the src/images directory. For those icons needing a 16x16 version (and import/export does as it is in a menu), I have dedicated svg files too that are not in svn, as the 48x48 svg's normally come out bad in 16x16 bitmap. Feel free to ask for them if you have use for it. Benny 2007/11/30, Jason Simanek <jsi...@gm...>: > > Do these icons still need to be created?
