Oops. My new documentation for 3.3 was all marked as 3_3. Sorry. Would you like me to copy over all of my docs or is this for you? Just in case, my new docs are at: http://www.gramps-project.org/wiki/index.php?title=User:Ander882 thanks. Craig A. From: Nick Wallingford <ni...@be...> Subject: [Gramps-devel] Wiki Manual for 3.3 I have this morning done the 'rollover' of the wiki manual pages in preparation for the 3.3 version. The process is a bit of a blunt instrument: I locate all wiki pages that have 3.2 in their title and export them to my local machine. I then do a search and replace on 3.2 to make it all 3.3 (in title and body of pages...) before re-importing them into the wiki. I've then re-built the search index for the wiki so the pages can be found. Note that search/replace of the body text *could* give some unintended results, but we've done it this way for the last several versions to save as much work as possible for the new manual's creation... All up, there are 285 new pages, ready for users to start editing to update the manual so it matches the 3.3 version. Please let me know if you want a listing of the pages, or if you see any obvious problems with the rollover. As soon as I get the word from the lead developers, I'll be making all of the 3.2 manual pages non-editable, so that all revisions will be into the new manual. Nick W. Tauranga, NZ |

Hi, In trunk there are a number of strings like: Filtering on|Inverse xxxx I'm not sure how to interpret "Inverse" in this context. "Inverse Person" could be translated to "Omvänd person", meaning that the person has become Christian or changed religion. But I don't think that's the case here ;) /Peter |

But I don't think that's the case here ;) Maybe an atheist? Seriously though, the meaning is that you can select all of the people that don't match the filter. You can see this in use through the export screen, selecting a filter, doing a preview, clicking the "NNN People" button, and looking at the matching people. Right-click on a row, and see something like "Inverse Person Filter". I added that because on some filters, it matched everyone but just a few people, and I couldn't tell who was matching. So, now you can see those few that didn't match. We may have to reword those translatable phrases. Hope that helps, -Doug > /Peter > > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ > Free Software Download: Index, Search & Analyze Logs and other IT data in > Real-Time with Splunk. Hi, Because these strings were missing, I added the same help on context as in the previous translation strings (3.2.x). So, complete english sentence will look like "Filtering on" + " "+ "Inverse xxxx". It is used on new Exporter: a context menu with "filtered data" and "inverse filter". These strings are for the title (FilterByName quickview) on result dialog. Without checking context (in use), I translated these "inverse" strings in french with something like: "not present objects" where objects are primary object names! But with filter and tests could be "not match" or "inverse filter" ? Yes, the translation might be strange on some gramplets! Code sometimes uses "pure" object classes and tests. In these cases, a translation dictionnary seem to be often used. A native english reader could check if title like: "Filtering on Inverse Person" sounds good ? I guess I understand the sense, but I am not certain about the capital letter and single form in context ? If change, we also need to look at tests on filter_name (FilterByName.py). I've now deleted all of the 3.3 manual pages that I created (as they were inaccurately created by rolling over the 3.1 manual!) Tomorrow morning, I'll have another go at doing it right - and base the rollover on the existing 3.2 manual pages! Sorry to create this confusion, and thanks for spotting it so quick, Benny and Jerome - I would have felt much worse if it had carried on for a time and translators, etc, had put in work on these wrongly-created pages! Hopefully the right ones will be there within the next 12 hours. But just now, I hear a single malt scotch whiskey calling my name... A missing entry in your script? Benny 2011/2/28 Nick Wallingford<ni...@be...> I have this morning done the 'rollover' of the wiki manual pages in preparation for the 3.3 version. No, Bennie is right, I think... In the rollover, I have managed to miss that (and maybe other) page out. I'm in the process right now of going through to figure what might have happened. I'm *thinking* that the database backup I did to start with was somehow corrupted. But I'll report back in within about an hour, I hope... OK, I think I've got it now. I *did* do the rollover as it would be expected, using the 'blunt instrument' of replacing 3.2 with 3.3. But the page refered to: Nl:Gramps_3.3_Wiki_Handleiding did not exist as a 3.2 version. Rather, the page as it came over in the rollover was: Gramps 3.3 Wiki Handleiding - Verslagen - deel 5 So the *page* is there, but the redirects to it are not right, I think. I am not at all a 'real user' in the wiki, so don't really know how these have been set up. But does this attempt at explanation help any? And please give me any other examples to follow up, as that would help, too... As example of other problems, see portugueze: ok: http://www.gramps-project.org/wiki/index.php?title=PT:Manual_Wiki_GRAMPS_3.2 not present in 3.3 the rederict page is present http://www.gramps-project.org/wiki/index.php?title=Gramps_3.3_Wiki_Manual/pt So, the script to copy over the manuel should copy over the pages starting with Gramps_3.2_Wiki_Manual and look in the file if the first line is not a REDIRECT. In that case, the page that is the rederict should be copied over also, every time replacing 3.2 by 3.3. It really isn't so much a 'script' to do the rollover, as a 'procedure'... Up until now, I've never done anything relating to the redirects, as (to be honest) I don't know quite how they work. What I've done, for the last two 'rollovers', is documented at http://gramps-project.org/wiki/index.php?title=Rollover_for_the_manual I'm not really sure how to proceed. For the last 2 rollovers, this procedure has worked, but this time it is broken. What is the significant difference that caused this one to not work? Translator can do them manually now, or the procedure is repeated for the missing pages. My guess would be the pages that are missing where not in the * myfile.txt*for some unknown reason, or the grep command failed to extract the Dutch, ... or you deleted more than needed in step 4 of the procedure. OK, during the rollover, I *somehow* managed to miss out pages. I think it is that wikimedia now won't give you a single page listing of all the pages, but splits it up into about 8 pages - I guess I must have just missed one or more of them out! At any rate, I've now created an additional 114 pages, and rebuilt the search index, etc. Happy to provide the listing of new files to anyone who wants it. Hopefully this will save the translators some work! I *did* do the rollover as it would be expected, using the 'blunt instrument' of replacing 3.2 with 3.3. But the page refered to: Nl:Gramps_3.3_Wiki_Handleiding did not exist as a 3.2 version. Rather, the page as it came over in the rollover was: Gramps 3.3 Wiki Handleiding - Verslagen - deel 5 Yes it exists, see http://www.gramps-project.org/wiki/index.php?title=Nl:Gramps_3.2_Wiki_Handleiding The page you link to is the translation of http://www.gramps-project.org/wiki/index.php?title=Gramps_3.3_Wiki_Manual_-_Reports_-_part_5 The 3.2 version of that page is fully translated: http://www.gramps-project.org/wiki/index.php?title=Gramps_3.2_Wiki_Manual_-_Reports_-_part_5/nl but the created 3.3 page has no content.. It seems for German this worked ok, but for Dutch, portugeze, .... not Benny So the *page* is there, but the redirects to it are not right, I think. I am not at all a 'real user' in the wiki, so don't really know how these have been set up. But does this attempt at explanation help any? A missing entry in your script? Benny 2011/2/28 Nick Wallingford<ni...@be...> I have this morning done the 'rollover' of the wiki manual pages in preparation for the 3.3 version. Note, the list of broken redirections: http://www.gramps-project.org/wiki/index.php?title=Special:BrokenRedirects --- En date de : Jeu 10.3.11, Benny Malengier <ben...@gm...> a écrit : De: Benny Malengier <ben...@gm...> Objet: Re: [Gramps-devel] Wiki Manual for 3.3 À: "Nick Wallingford" <ni...@be...> Cc: ni...@gr..., "jerome" <rom...@ya...>, "Gramps developers" <gra...@li...> Date: Jeudi 10 mars 2011, 9h23 2011/3/9 Nick Wallingford <ni...@be...> OK, I think I've got it now. It seems for German this worked ok, but for Dutch, portugeze, .... not Benny So the *page* is there, but the redirects to it are not right, I think. I am not at all a 'real user' in the wiki, so don't really know how these have been set up. But does this attempt at explanation help any? And please give me any other examples to follow up, as that would help, too... Nick On 10/03/11 08:30, Nick Wallingford wrote: No, Bennie is right, I think... In the rollover, I have managed to miss that (and maybe other) page out. I'm in the process right now of going through to figure what might have happened. I'm *thinking* that the database backup I did to start with was somehow corrupted. But I'll report back in within about an hour, I hope... Here an overview of all languages: http://www.gramps-project.org/wiki/index.php?title=User_manual We can fix this by hand with some work, but it would be nice if next time they are included. Benny 2011/3/1 Nick Wallingford<ni...@be...> I've had another go at the rollover of the manual pages from 3.2 to 3.3 - hopefully I've done a better job this time around, but as I'm not all that familiar with the wiki overall, please let me know if there are fundamental errors... See http://www.gramps-project.org/wiki/index.php?title=Gramps_3.3_Wiki_Manual_-_Main_Window/nl But the page http://www.gramps-project.org/wiki/index.php?title=Nl:Gramps_3.3_Wiki_Handleiding_-_Opstartscherm has not been created. A missing entry in your script? Benny 2011/2/28 Nick Wallingford<ni...@be...> I have this morning done the 'rollover' of the wiki manual pages in preparation for the 3.3 version. Nick W.
