I only tried to keep control file as close as for 3.4.

I stuck with last Debian (vs Ubuntu) policies for .deb generation.
I am able to generate something with 'python-support/debhelper' way, unfortunately it is deprecated for Debian (they want dh_python2 or dh_python3).
I used stdeb (git version), then ran 'debianize' method/command for SVN repository. So, it should be ready for next generation of deb packages (python2 and I suppose python3 with minor change), setuptool/distutils, etc ...
It might be difficult for me to build .deb for 3.4.x and 4.0.x.

I don't think Gramps still uses that. Does it? Was used in 3.2.
