[Gramps-devel] probably_alive again From: Alex Roitman - 2005-12-08 20:58:21 Attachments: Message as HTML ```Hi everybody, As Gerald's testcase demonstrated, the probably_alive function is not looking at the birth date to determine if the person is too old to be alive. The birth date is only checked to be within the 110 years of current year, and that would indicate that person is not too old, and then we keep looking for less direct clues like ancestors and descendants. The inverse check (born too long ago to be alive now) is never made, and therefore if the person is born in 1200 (s)he still would be guessed as probably_alive. This makes no sense to me. In fact, I would probably vote to have the following check added: If the person has any events that happened more than 150 years ago then the person is likely dead and we should look no further. Is there any good reason for not doing this, that I may be missing? Alex --=20 Alexander Roitman http://www.gramps-project.org ```
