What you did is not possible with a database grdb file.

Please read: http://www.gramps-project.org/wiki/index.php?title=Recover_corrupted_grdb
So return to original directory structure. To move a grdb file; export to .grdb via the export option in the File menu
If problems; contact the user list.

Also you are using version 2.2.3, please upgrade to 2.2.8, many bugs have been removed. There is a debian install file; see http://www.gramps-project.org/wiki/index.php?title=Installation#Upgrading_to_the_latest_version
