I use census plugin for recording census and tax lists.

There is a bug in census gramplet. If your census.xml contains special characters like German äöüß then you cannot choose any source from dropdown. This could even happen with translation.

in census.py:
add line 59 like follows so to omitt translation.

57 # The key of the data item in a source to define it as a census source.
58 CENSUS_TAG = _('Census')
59 CENSUS_TAG = 'Census'

In census.xml you the "<size>25</size> " works. but it seems person is always first place in a row, what ever you write in census.xml.

Another improvement could be to not only add a person and a census event, but also place-event.

Trying to get Census functionality to work by following Census_Addons help
page information. My Census gramplet is installed and census.xml is in it's
original state. One source (S0002, UK1841) is defined exactly as described
in Configuration part of the help page. My problem is that in Census Editor
the drop-down list at the top of the editor remains dimmed.

An other more general question. Is it meant that every user types in census
data  or are there public online data to download into Gramps?
