Pat,

I'm copying this to the developers list, so that others can comment when needed.
No images showed up in the tree. I thought it might have something to do with python-pyexiv2 so I installed it but still no images. (I have exactly the same media path as on my last computer, and Gramps has picked up my trees OK.)

After this installation I restarted Gramps and it gave me this:

"2014-01-31 13:51:14.079: WARNING: Utils.py: line 319: PyICU not available: sorting may be incorrect

 (gramps.py:4107): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_unref: assertion `G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed"

So do I try to alter the media string in the tools (which string do I need for the original asked for on the first line - I know the replace with one. I tried setting the media path in preferences but it did not work (as always).

What can I do about the sorting order? I think this needs to be fixed before anything else.
Install python-pyicu just like you installed python-pyexiv2. I see no warnings here after that, on SolydX 64.
Then again, maybe I should download and install the 4.0.3 deb over it and hope for the best.

What is your opinion, please.
Both are OK with me. The 4.0.3 deb may be easier if you have trouble with the start menu now. You may run

sudo make uninstall

first to get rid of 3.4.7.
