It is a good Idea to continue developing census
I use it for adding own census data to gramps db.
So I would like to habe a possibility to devellop
own census sheets which are capable to record local tax lists
You can do this already, but you will have to create your own xml
definitions. There is some documentation here:
I miss the possibility to choose existing census
sheets eg. at a side bar or gramplet. there I could choose to
add data using an existing sheet, print it or add a new census
sheet. the census sheet should be linked to a source - may be
each record via citation to the source.
There is a census gramplet available in the person view. I use it
as a bottombar gramplet. Would you like to see it enhanced? Would
a similar gramplet be useful in the event view?
source or citation should have media
The latest version has a "Gallery" tab. This allows you to add
media to the citation.
on designing the census sheet it would be useful
to link a census field to a DB field, so eg. entering a place
in census would lead to a place-event in DB.
Entering a place in the census adds attaches it to the census event.
Every census record should have a note field where
the written name can be recorded, which might differ from the
You can enter a name in the name column in the census editor. This
replaces the dafult name of the person, and is stored as an
attribute in the event reference.
So in the end we would have some sort of table
with colums like in census and rows representing persons in DB
The census report prints the census in a tabular format. It isn't
very good for definitions with a large number of columns though.
I hope you can understand.
My english is not so good.
perhaps census plugin could replace csv import which doesnt
work fine fo me.
I hadn't thought about loading a census from a csv file. This is
quite a good idea. Is there a particular website you download
I suggest the following:
There might be an excel sheet or a table on a
website, which I would like to import. I could copy that table
and paste it into an empty "census sheet", Thereafter I would
determine coulumn names and bound DB fields and on enter the
sheet would import the set.
What do you think about?
