As far as I know I have places. Places view displays many places and most are associated with persons. I understand that I need coordinates but do not know how to add them.

Is this done through the context menu option: Quick View or Look Up With Map Service? The second option brings up Google Maps for the selected place. So at this point I assume I am to find the coordinates but how?

This is why I am confused as to why it is not working.

Geography view does not seem to work. Hopefully, the issue is me and not the program. The view displays the following content.

Cannot center the map. No location with coordinates. That may happen for one of the following reasons :
The filter you use returned nothing.
The active person has no places with coordinates.
The active person's family members have no places with coordinates.
You have no places.
You have no active person set.
I think the answer is in the above lines. Verify you have at most one place with coordinates then choose the geoview places view.
You should see the map and this place.

The controls and input box at the top of the view are grayed out, too.
If you have no places, this is a normal situation.
