GEVENT is it a Gedcom tag ?
I don't know in the draft 5.5.1.
I have not tried neither one nor the other.
Warning "Civil Union" is like PACS (French contract) ! I just want to link cohabitants.

Hi,

A quick look at plugins/lib/libgedcom.py says that:

ENGA is set on familyConstantEvents (gen.lib.EventType.ENGAGEMENT)
EVEN is used on __family_even()
TYPE is the EVENT_DESCRIPTOR
GEVENT: Checks to see if the token maps a known GEDCOM event. If so, we
change the type from UNKNOWN to TOKEN_GEVENT (gedcom event), and
the data is assigned to the associated GRAMPS EventType

I suppose Gramps will create a custom family event : Union
and to import engagement family event.

Did you try this:

0 @F753@ FAM
1 HUSB @I1@
1 WIFE @I2222@
1 ENGA <- (for common-law)
2 TYPE Union <- for common-law

or

0 @F753@ FAM
1 HUSB @I1@
1 WIFE @I2222@
1 GEVENT
2 TYPE Civil Union
