I would find it useful to sort files by ctime instead of mtime. I think gqview 1.X used to do this; I recall using this function a while back, but with version 2.0.4 I don't see the feature anywhere.
Since a mtime sort function already exists, I'm guessing it would be easy to add a ctime equivalent.
Granted, many users don't understand the difference between mtime (file contents changed) and ctime (inode changed), so maybe it should be an advanced option, hidden by default.
I use this sort method mainly to help group related files so I can split them into subdirs. Tools like tar, rsync, and wget preserve the file's original mtime, but the ctime still represents the order in which they were transferred. So, files with no other usable sort method can still be easily grouped.
