#27 accept var_name prompt "Value" hangs

I am using gqlplus 1.10 on Solaris 2.8,Linux RHEE 3.1
and Digital Unix 4.0F, but on all the paltform the command
accept var_name prompt "Value :"
Hangs indefinitely.
I searched the bug database but found no matching entry.
Have anybody such type of problem and its rectification?
Also When II compiled the gqlplus source to HP-UX, The
compilation is OK with two warnings, but fails to connect.
