Just an observation while converting to GPT an so I could resize some partitions from macOS’ Disk Utility on an old hard drive pulled from a Dell laptop but now used for portable storage. gdisk does not recognize the old partition type code of the Dell utility partition, DE00. I haven’t researched whether if Dell continues to use this kind of partition on UEFI systems, nor if there is a new type code to assign; otherwise, since the underlying partition is FAT, maybe it can be converted to always use the Windows GUID rather than the current OS. I don’t imagine this being an issue since the partition is no longer be bootable/accessible from the original system—I’ll probably ignore or delete the partition anyways. However if this does turn out to be an issue, it might be something I can come up with a patch for. Hope this helps, Christopher A. Chavez |
