Gpsdings will migrate to OpenJDK

In the not too far future gpsdings will be compiled with OpenJDK (openjdk.java.net), so the binaries will probably no longer run on Java 5.

gpsdings 0.4 released

gpsdings is a Java 1.5 command line application consisting of several GPS-related utilities, among them a geocoder for digital camera pictures.

* "gpsdings openlayers" creates OpenLayers slippy maps with GPS overlays, you can choose one or more base layers from Google Maps, Yahoo Maps, and OpenStreetMap

gpsdings 0.3.2 released

gpsdings is a Java 1.5 command line application consisitng of several GPS-related utilities, among them a geocoder for digital camera pictures.

The 0.3.2 release includes several bug fixes and workarounds for java bugs.

gpsdings 0.2.1 released under GPLv3

gpsdings 0.2.1 is available for download at the gpstools project. gpsdings is a java 1.5 command line tool for the manipulation and analysis of track and waypoint data recorded with a gps receiver.
The 0.2.1 release is the first release of gpsdings to appear under the new GPL v3, which is compatible with the Apache License of the jakarta commons libraries that gpsdings uses.
A new feature has also been added: the exifloc module can now write coordinates, timestamps as well as arbitrary formatted text to digital photographs that you are geo-tagging.

gpsdings 0.1 is available for download at the gpstools project. gpsdings is a java 1.5 command line tool for the manipulation and analysis of track and waypoint data recorded with a gps receiver. The 0.1 release comprises the following fully functional applications.
* exifloc - Determines the geolocation of digital camera pictures from a gps track.
* gpxkml - Converts GPX to KML.
* googlemap - Converts GPX to Google Maps API Javascript.
* trackanalyzer - Analyzes and plots gps tracks.
* gpxovl - Converts between GPX and OVL formats.

gpstools preview release

gpstools, a collection of Java command-line utilities for analyzing and transforming gps tracks and waypoints has published a working preview release.
* exifloc finds the geolocation of digital camera pictures and optionally adds them to a KML or Google Maps Api map,
* googlemap converts GPX to Google Maps API Javascript,
* gpxkml converts GPX to KML preserving waypoint symbols if possible.
* gpxovl converts between GPX and GeoGridViewer/Top50 OVL formats
