I'm not up to date on what people generally use for raster tile formats a) on J2ME and b) on Android. GpsMid now has some support for raster maps (online, can access with a tile server url), and would be useful to add off-line raster map storage.

Suggestions on what formats to use on J2ME and Android are welcome.

Would be best if you can answer / comment in the raster tile format tracker https://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=2861343&group_id=192084&atid=939977 so things can be found in one place.

I'd prefer kmz-files, which are zip-files with integrated jpg's and an xml-file  containing the gps-position.
KMZ is used by Google Earth and they can be displayed on Garming-Devices as well.

KMZ seems more straight-forward to add than Trekbuddy, as GpsMid already has zip & XML support. Seems also that the Mobile Atlas Creator can create KMZ.
