Finally, I moved the version control vom cvs to subversion. CVS data is still available but new code will not be added into it! So if you are interested in new code, please adopt your repository setings!
just a view minor changes: better logging, mouse wheel support, garmin edge support.
have fun...
GPSylon is a moving map application written in java, so it's completely plattform independent!
Finally, the serial communication code is working on windows and linux systems out of the box (no other systems to try!).
No installation of java serial library needed (rxtx library for windows, linux, SunOS and Mac (Darwin) is included)!
Fixed a couple of bugs (mostly on windows systems).
Added gpx export for tracks.
A new prerelease of Gpsylon was released. The major change is that no installation of the native rxtx libraries are necessary anymore (when using the included batch/shell scripts).
This release does not add any new features. It is just a fix for the broken serial communication (Sun introduced a new CommApi, which is not compatible to the rxtx.org packages anymore). Additionally some code cleanup was done. The classes dealing with communication to gps devices were separated to build a library on their own.
in the latest release (0.4.15-pre8) the screenshot function works also for Garmin Geko (tested with 201). The functionality for Streetpilot III is more or less working, but my device always powered down after sending 10 lines. So this is not finished, but feedback is highly welcome!
the latest release fixes some bugs in some of the plugins. For a final release, some features are still missing, so any contributions are highly welcome!
A new mailinglist for all changes in the cvs was created, so for all interested in the latest changes, subscribe it.
Finally most of the bugs seem to be found and fixed, so after 8 pre releases, I give it a try for a new release.
the ant buil process should now work better on windows systems. the plugin-jars had some problems on windows systems. the new build.xml files are in the cvs now.
A release will hopefully follow next week.
the new pre version 0.4.14-pre6 is released, it fixes a bad bug that prevented the download of maps from the internet.
cvs repository is up to date now (finally found a way to circumvent my ssh problems :-)
in the cvs there is a half done map manager (shows all available maps as an overlay in the map component), maybe someone wants to contribute some code (frame with table of maps, delete, import, etc. functionality) :-)
the new prerelease should make the plugin interfaces stable (more or less) and it should fix the problems windows users had with windows paths in the properties.
As I'm locked out of sourceforge at the moment, the CVS is not uptodate - please use the source distribution for the latest source. Sorry about that!
I released a pre version of 0.4.14 today. The functionality stayed more or less the same, but the internal architecture was changed to support plugins. A couple of default plugins are included in the source and binary distribution (directory plugins).
GPSMap is a moving map application in java that uses maps from the internet and may be connected to a gps device (NMEA).
This release fixes some minor bugs and provides a search facility for location markers. In combination with imported geonet data, it is possible to search for even smalles villages and center the map to the search results.
in version 0.4.9 the script to create the database was missing. 0.4.10 fixes this problem and adds the functionality to import geonet data files into the database. geonet files contain lots of information (around 50000 points for austria!) and can be downloaded from http://164.214.2.59/gns/html/index.html
GPSMap is a java application that is able to display maps (downloaded from the internet) and gps data (position, markers, tracks, ...)
This release finally stores location markers in a database (hsqldb - no installation needed), categories of markers shown with icons, lots of bugfixes.
some bugfixes (faster preferences editor, remember more things)
new nmea window that shows the raw gps data (for debugging or other interests)
please see the changelog of the latest release for details
the new (and first on sourceforge) release offers a better interface for downloading maps (visual feedback)
