Bugs item #2892731, was opened at 2009-11-05 17:11 Message generated for change (Tracker Item Submitted) made by nobody You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=770280&aid=2892731&group_id=148048 Please note that this message will contain a full copy of the comment thread, including the initial issue submission, for this request, not just the latest update. Category: None Group: gpsdrive-2.10pre7 Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: GLib-ERROR **: The thread system is not yet initialized. Initial Comment: I always get the above error on i586 Fedora 11. (On x86-64 F11 all is well.) This happens whether I use the Fedora RPM package or compiled the program from src, both the pre7 and svn version. A workaround seems to be to insert the line g_thread_init(NULL); in gpsdrive.c (It's already there, at line 2405, but enclosed in an #ifdef MAEMO clause.) This works only in pre7, in svn I also have to #include glib.h, but then get a linker error. The recompiled program starts, but when I change resolution once or twice (in either mapnik or normal mode) it throws this exception: Gtk:ERROR:gtkcontainer.c:2717:IA__gtk_container_propagate_expose: assertion failed: (child->parent == GTK_WIDGET (container)) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=770280&aid=2892731&group_id=148048 |

Long story short: dpkg --force-depends -r libmapnik0.5 fixes that and gpsdrive starts and works just fine. Just apt-get complains about broken dependencies and wants to reinstall it. I'm not sure, but I suspect that the dependency rule for libmapnik needs some loving. Anyone knowledgeable about this? As I don't know this well enough. Kicking prio up a notch as this is a showstopper. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Thomas B. Category: Map Download Group: gpsdrive-svn >Status: Closed >Resolution: Fixed Priority: 6 Private: No Submitted By: Hamish B (hbowman) >Assigned to: Hamish B (hbowman) Summary: OSM download maps incorrectly scaled Initial Comment: Hi, the OSM download maps are incorrectly scaled. It is only slightly wrong, but noticeable. if someone can dig out the code their download site uses to determine the scale level, I can redo the GpsDrive side of things so that it matches and scales perfectly. I'd also note that using their current projection anything over 1:500,000 will have too much distortion to be very useful. Try downloading a world wide OSM map using the Options->Maps->Download tool and then in Pos. Mode slowly click your way to +-90 deg lon from the center. you will see the cursor jump to the pole.. for those scales plate caree (top_* maps) are appropriate, for the Landsat maps I've made it do the transition as we can tell the WMS server what we want, but for the OSM map download I fear we have no choice besides allow download of crap maps or stop offering to download more than 1:500k. thanks, Hamish ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Hamish B (hbowman) Date: 2009-08-31 23:18 Message: fixed in svn. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Date: 2009-06-02 00:52 Message: your idea could be a nice intermediate solution. in the long term I would generally prefer a completely tile-based solution, and also get rid of our fixed 1280x1024 map in favour of a dynamic size, based on the viewport size. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Hamish B (hbowman) Date: 2009-06-01 07:10 Message: idea: use precut 256x256 slippy tiles. http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Slippy_map_tilenames 1280x1024 is exactly 5x4 tiles. So what we'd need to do is to calc the tile the requested coord is in (formula in above URL), reset the request coord to the centre of that tile, download the tile and the 19 around it making a 1280x1024 box, concatenate the tiles, and write the whole lot to disk as (hopefully) Merc projection. URL structure is like http://host.domain/zoom/x/y.png http://tile.openstreetmap.org/12/2047/1362.png ?, Hamish ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Hamish B (hbowman) Date: 2009-06-01 02:38 Message: see also http://cfis.savagexi.com/2006/05/03/google-maps-deconstructedv http://cfis.savagexi.com/2006/05/05/google-maps-revisited http://cfis.savagexi.com/2006/06/30/mouse-coordinates-to-lat-long http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Talk:Osmarender_bug (discussion page) http://www.sharpgis.net/post/2007/07/27/The-Microsoft-Live-Maps-and-Google-Maps-projection.aspx ... and a Google Summer of Code student is currently working on a similar web tile-import project for uDig GIS (LGPL). Category: Mapnik/OSM Group: None Status: Open Priority: 7 Private: No Submitted By: Hamish B (hbowman) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: Mapnik:don't hardcode DB name Initial Comment: Hi, AFAICT the PostGIS DB name is hardcoded as "gis" which is very generic. As I keep a number of other GIS DBs on the same machine it would be nice to be able to call the DB something else, for example "osm_au" for the Australian OSM DB. I tried that, and search & replaced all dbnames in osm.xml, but it would not start Mapnik. It would be nice if you could define the DB name (and perhaps user/pw) in the Preferences GUI, or at minimum the gpsdriverc file. or maybe this is already possible and I"m missing something. I fixed it and optimized a bit. File is attached here ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Date: 2009-07-18 17:55 Message: This fixed all my problems with the osm2poid script! Thanks for posting this new code. With the SVN code (even as of 7/17) it is very unoptimized, and it fails under many circumstances. Many imports also fail with errors "SQLite error: indexed columns are not unique". This attachment fixed both problems - the sqlite error, and the optimization problem. Thanks, atupone! I would suggest that the developers immediately perform a commit with this new code. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=770280&aid=2817830&group_id=148048 |

Hamish ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Date: 2009-06-30 22:07 Message: Repairing this will take a little bit, since the PC holding the buildcluster and the gpg-keys started to throw flames and smoke and then changed my working-room into a dark-room. So i had to send it to the manufacturer (today) to repair the Main Power supply. But as soon as it is back I'll have a closer look at this. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Hamish B (hbowman) Date: 2009-06-30 14:32 Message: Ok, the buildbot server and .deb repo on the website belongs to Joerg, you'll have to ping him to get it fixed. em ail to joerg TA ostertag.name ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Mozilla Products for Argentina (mozilla-arg) Date: 2009-06-23 00:04 Message: I know that the .deb files are stored in http://www.gpsdrive.de/ubuntu/pool/ but without Packages file in /dists you cannot automatically update and Synaptic shows an ugly message. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Hamish B (hbowman) Date: 2009-06-22 21:16 Message: try http://www.gpsdrive.de/ubuntu/pool/ Hamish ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=770280&aid=2808489&group_id=148048 |
