Hello, Babel-Heads. Thanx to the work of many, GPSBabel 1.2.4 has arrived. It has a multitude of changes, highlighted here: New Formats * The big one - USB support of Garmin VistaC, SummitC, 60C, 60CS, 76C, 76CS, and 96C. (Windows only for now. A libusb solution for OSes like Linux and OS/X is in development.) * Netstumbler support added. * IGC for flight recorders. * Brauniger IQbarograph added. * HSA Endeavour format added. New Filters * Stack filter added. This is a powerful feature that adds a new "dimension" to heavy filtering exercises. You can now push, pop, and swap lists of waypoints allowing arbitrary combinations of processing and merges in a single invocation. * A new 'sort' filter to alphabetize lists. Enhancements * MacGPSBabel supports OS/X 10.3 and adds smart name generation. * Text, html, palmdoc options can now support Geocaching logs. * Add geocache type and container type to XCSV, allow them as input. * 'points' option to arc filter added to let you find points near the points given instead of near the line between the points given. (Think "near exits" instead of "along the road".) * Optionally erase waypoints in a Magellan before sending new ones. * NMEA module now generates and parses additional sentences. * Improvements to Garmin protocol debugging. * Added new Groundspeak "small" container size. Fixes * Arc filter no longer intermittently loses points. * Garmin Mapsource fixes for routes & memory corruption. * Garmin StreetPilot firmware 2.70 support. * Garmin Vista 3.60 support. * Garmin Forerunner 201 track reading support. * Street Atlas USA 2005 tracks/routes now supported. * More tolerant of bad Windows timing from Serial/USB converters. Cosmetic * I have registered http://www.gpsbabel.org as our new domain for those that can't remember http://gpsbabel.sourceforge.net. * Gerald (a.k.a. "Dinohunters") has donated a spiffy new logo for us. There is a more comprehensive list of changes at http://www.gpsbabel.org/changes.html while the intensely curious on the activity under the covers (after all this IS an open source project...) can see the CVS logs at http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/gpsbabel/gpsbabel/ Supporting Free Software GPSBabel is free software, both free as in price and free as in liberty. You have the freedom to study how it works and modify it as you need. Source code is available from the download sites. You can help the project in a number of ways. You don't have to donate code to help, but that's always appreciated. There are a number of ways that non-developers can help. You can help others on the mailing lists, improve documentation, or offer testing. While GPSBabel is free, the mapping programs and units we buy for testing are not. A number of people have asked how they can contribute to the project financially and we've added a way to do that. http://sourceforge.net/donate/index.php?group_id=58972 Special thanx go to * Everyone that donated code, money, or testing time on the Garmin work including USB, USB/Serial, Hardware-specific, and Mapsource weirdness. * Ron Parker for that cool stack filter and a plethora of internal janitorial work. * Clyde England of GSAK for working with us on a number of issues.
