By a twist of fate (ok, and a loan from Monkeybrad) I have an ibook running OS/X, too. I'll admit I haven't tried serial on it, but USB has proven wildly entertaining so far. Prolific seems to be in the chip biz. Who made the integrated thingy that you're holding and who provided the driver for it in case I need to pursue that? BTW, I have a fix for the Makefile in the oven. "make mac-build" will become your friend. > Here is the short one: > $ sudo gpsbabel -D9 -t -i garmin -f /dev/cu.usbserial0 -o gpx -F "fix" the perms on /dev/cu.usbserial0 and you don't have to run it as root. > GPS_Packet_Read: No DLE > GARMIN:Can't init /dev/cu.usbserial0 This is *probably* bad select/vmin/vtime handling either in the driver or by us and we're incurring a read timeout. I'm pretty sure that we have other Garmin/OSX users out there. (JeremyA?) Can anyone confirm success with the latest beta on OSX? I'll try it with a Magic Control Technologies U232 device and a Garmin 60, a II, and/or a Banana. But other than using different GPS with a different converter with what's probably a different ibook and a different osx, I'll be careful to not introduce any other variables. :-) OSX is at the front of my GPSBabel line for a while when Real Life quits interfering.
