I think this is the right call. I'd even lean to removing datum transforms. Part of the difficulty is that labeling of which point is in which datum is very tricky business. More recent proj has better datum transformations. In the US, that includes gridded model files that match NGS's transforms. There are mechanisms for choosing specific transforms. So punting all this to proj/gdal seems best. |
