If you want to talk through it, I'll listen.

I found it helpful to get someone to generate opposing signed coords
with names to tell me what they were when figuring this sort of thing
out.  "1N, 1E" -> "1N1E" for pairs like 1N1W, 1S1E, 1S1E and so on.
