Hello Craig, Thanks for your answer and link to your guide. This however is not addressing my issue. I basically need to load waypoints or tracks to my GPS. This is why I need gpsbabel. I completed some test from my original post with the next tests: Command line gpsbabel.exe -p "" -w -i navilink -f com5: -o gpx -F "GT31_Waypoints.gpx" = Does not work. Looking at the gpsbabel error message I really suspect an issue at the communication level. What disturb me is that error messages are not always the same - here some examples: NAVILINK: Read error NAVILINK: Read error reading 6145 byte payload NAVILINK: Read error reading 6145 byte payload NAVILINK: Read error reading 35841 byte payload NAVILINK: Read error reading 50689 byte payload NAVILINK: Checksum error - expected 5543 got b054 each time by using the same command line. I tested many times on both Win XP and Vista. On XP I succeeded to have some good tranfers after several attempts. On Vista also but much less. I would say it works about 1 time over 3/5 on XP and 1 time over 20/30 on Vista. This is really strange not? What is also strange is that sometime gpsbabel waits about 1second to report an error and sometimes it takes 5 to 10 seconds. Because I suspect a transmission issue, I tried to change the settings (baudrate, flowcontrol, parity,..) of the prolific USB-Serial COMport ...but nothing changed. I hope I don't have to suspect the integrrity of my GPS GT-31 unit. (It works perfect wih Locosys Navilink software). As to your new questions: 1. NAVILINK protocol of GT-31 is compatible with GT-11 I just tested GPSBabel V1.3.5 on GT-31 with the following command (on XP platform): gpsbabel.exe -p "" -w -i navilink -f com5: -o gpx -F "GT31_Waypoints.gpx" ----- Mail Original ----- De: "Craig Bergh" <cb...@iw...> À: "Hervé Suquet" <av...@fr...>, gps...@li... I have also included a guide to setting up the unit for Doppler measurement. This GPS can be set up to write txt (NMEA) files. Or you can set it to write sbn (Doppler) files. I think the sbn are a bit newer and may be a bit more precise, however, fewer programs can open an sbn file. There is just a couple of settings to be changed to record either txt or sbn files. My primary interest in GPS technology is speed, not position. However, the LOCOSYS GPS units are ideal for both uses. I like the ability to write a new file every time it is turned on. Each file is coded for date and time. An SD card can hold hundreds and hundreds of files. Then you can go back and examine any file by searching by date.
