I've now downloaded all the versions of GPSBabel. I originally downloaded the .zip version of 1.1.0 which runs but has minimal conversion capabilities. I proceeded to download the .gz version. I extracted the directories as is onto my harddrive. There doesn't seem to be an installation file. when I execute GPSBabel I receive the following error: Unable to execute GPSBabel.exe I receive the same result with the Beta version Please help. The latest Win32 compiled beta available for download is gpsbabel-1.1.1 beta09042003.zip, which is nearly only a month old. Chances are, the latest beta does what you need. You *may* be running into the limitations of the Win32 GUI frontend for GPSBabel (it doesn't do tracks, routes, or various data filtering techniques). >I proceeded to download the .gz version. Specifically the ones that read ".exe (32-bit Windows) in the "Type" column on the download page at: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=58972&release_id=127139 If you need a compiled executable (.exe) of a later version than what's available from the download page, drop me an email or post a message to the list and I or someone else will gladly send you a "latest and greatest" gpsbabel.exe. ... alex |

Alex Perfect. I managed to achieve my goal using the version 1.1.0. I'm converting from EasyGPS to Mapsource. GPSBabel doesn't seem to cope with a whole list of EasyGPS waypoints in a file, it will convert one at a time. I converted the waypoints to PCX format in EasyGPS and then used GPSBabel to convert this file to MPS. I picked up the following thread from the archive. Was excited to read Alan's advice, however I do not find EasyGPS as one of the formats in my dropdown list. ------------------------------------------------- More than likely you've opened and saved the geocaching.com .loc file with EasyGps or ExpertGps. They use the same extension but a save different file format. Try opening the .loc with the EasyGPS format in the drop down box. The formats are geo - geocaching.com .loc file EasyGps - Topographix EasyGps .loc file Alan Stephen Hollingworth wrote: >I've now downloaded all the versions of GPSBabel. I converted the waypoints to PCX format in EasyGPS and then Folks routinely convert files with hundreds of waypoints. Perhaps you can be more specific in what you're doing and seeing. > I picked up the following thread from the archive.
