Contributing my 2 cents worth (US$), I have a Garmin Vista linked through a
USB-Serial converter that I've been using to download waypoints through GSAK
for about the last 3 weeks. Using the latest version of GSAK under Windows
XP, I have no problem downloading waypoints. I guess that would indicate
that it's not specifically a Vista problem anyway.
My USB-serial converter is some sort of off brand I picked up at Best Buy
almost a year ago - the manufacturer didn't even bother to put a logo or any
indication of manufacturer on the plastic housing, all it says is "Made in
China" and "Model Number GUC232A", but it seems to work OK.
If it will help, I'll be glad to run any tests you like on my configuration
with the Vista to compare with embi's output.

This is helpful info. Is your vista running 3.60 like Mark's?
