This is my first post here, so let me introduce myself :)
I'm contributing to a project called NavIt.
It's an opensource car navigation system with realtime routing engine.
It uses various vector maps, either commercial (like Reiseplaner) or
open, like OpenStreetMaps.
Our website is at http://navit.sf.net
We're working to add some maps overlay features (like using a route
calculated by Google maps, which is handy).
For that, we need to be able to read gpx datas.
To import OSM datas, we wrote a script which convert OSM datas into a
format more readable for NavIt. The goal of having our own format is not
to expand a little more the tower of babel :) but it's because we're
working on a binary format which will be more efficient for us.
We could have made the same thing for gpx (i.e. write our own converter)
but it's somehow a bad idea. If we could write together a converter to
the navit format, our software could use any of the numerous formats
supported by gpsbabel. Which would be great :)
So, i'm here to request some help about how to write a converter for our
format (which is really simple).
Some informations about it can be found there :
I hope this request will interest some of you.
Thanks in advance for your time :)
