I've had a variation of this in my local trees forever, but have finally
added it to the official one.
Magellans with DirectRoute have the annoying trait of sharing the
(absurdly limited) waypoint comment field between user waypoints and the
pool of turnpoints that DR uses to generate street routes. Thus if you
have 200 waypoints with comments loaded and you issue a street goto,
the unit doesn't have space for the "turn left on I-65" comments. (See
'approaching turn' in http://www.mtgc.org/robertlipe/myfaq)
The default is still 200 (I could be convinced to change that) but I've
added a 'maxcmts=N' suboption so that GPSBabel won't send more than N
comments in one shot to leave DR some breathing room.
If you send three batches of 67, you're still hosed. GPSBabel doesn't
know how many are in the unit when you do the write. Don't do that.
(And it's totally lame in 2005 in a unit with a gig of memory that you
can still only have 200 waypoitns with comments at one time - and have
to share those, no less. But nobody asked me...)
