Please try the following on you ubuntu:

Open a terminal and start

$ rigctld -m 123 -r /dev/ttyUSB0 --set-conf=serial_speed=4800 -vvvv

Open a second terminal and start

$ rigctl -m 2

If everything goes well, at the rigctl prompt ask for current frequency

Rig command: f[ENTER]
Frequency: 145000000

In case of any error please attach the output in your answer.
