Andrew, "I think the company you are looking for is called AGI and the product, STK, has been under heavily funded continuous development for a couple of decades. I looked pretty hard at it a long time ago, and it was very impressive. at the time I could do what this software does for only about $25k and a couple of weeks of work." This is a little open source project that WAS built up for Linux that is not being actively developed. The fact that the very busy author occasionally answers questions, is a complete bonus. If you would like to work on those extensions, have at it ! No, Really ! not being cynical or sarcastic. Please ! I would *love* to see just a simple hook to start up a shell program to do *anything* when the sat come into view and pass out of view. Even just improving rigdtrl would be a big help. It could use some SDR support ! Maybe allow some commands and feedback so it could do some of the other things on your list. Also, a general question. Isn't the program doing a orbital prediction, not actively tracking ? Tracking means to me watching the sky (somehow) and following the physical object. You make predictions of the position in time based on the orbital elements. ie NORAD does the tracking. -Gar. > I really like gpredict and I donât want this to be taken the wrong way > > I want gpredict to be the best it can be > > Here is my wish list > > Ignore the stuff that already exists > > I use MacDoppler and that is the THE closest thing to what I need but the > author REFUSES to support SDR > > 01.
