I have already had numerous conversations with the Debian project about this and I have started the migration, despite the fact that nobody has given me a good reason why removing the old goocanvas is necessary.

As you can see, it's rather large undertaking and I will not be able to have a new releasae ready anytime soon. You may as well just remove gpredict from Debian and close all related issues.

Gpredict 2.0 has now been released and it uses Goocanvaas 2 and Gtk+ 3.
