#3 location of ports-db

when installation of programm run as root, other users
are not able to 'view' ports-db. i think it would be
nice if other users can work with this tool. make
search is also able for normal users.
i would make ports-db world readable at a location
under /var/

just my 2 pence.

    Ok, it would be good to have another default location for
    the ports-db.

    Normally the user can select a ports-db file.

    What is not visible, the collection of ports, or the
    library? As I recall, the gports library (now porttools) is
    put in /usr/local/lib, and can be used. If it is the port
    collection, then I agree. Please clarify what you mean by
    "ports-db" in your comment.
