I would guess it is sierra based. don't know this one but i tried the Olympus D540 (which is about $110,-) unfortunatly i could not manage the camera to get identified by the usb-system at all. I switched it to PTP-Mode (iirc it's ptp but i tried LOTS of cams in the last days so i maybe confuse it) and tried all positions of the "menu-wheel" (the one with the "play" sign) ... nothing either i did something wrong or it's propritary stuff... (like many cams i've seen, most no-name) one had to capture and watch usb-traffic with windows... since i always get very stressed by other customers and shop-assistants during my "cam-probing sessions" with my notebook, it could be possible that i didn't operate the camera correctly... (or it already was broken, e.g. the usb-connector) > If you do get something working, it would be good to hear of it on the > list. sure... i really need this. and it's almost no problem for windows... even some lowest-price ($29) camera support simple time-lapse... > There was some guy a couple years ago that was trying to use linux to > take pictures at an amusement park (roller coaster I think), there > were never any follow up posts from him. i feel with this guy, man it's kinda frustrating... there's almost no possibility to check every model. First shop-assistants don't like messing with their cams, 2nd cameras almost always never got charged batteries and most often fancy power connectors... and 3rd one can never be sure if the cam won't work on linux or just got broken by some customer before... although the idea behind it all is so easy and the product is so amazing... :) cu -- frustraded rigid [Brian Singing to Stewie] Brian Griffin: I'll bet money / You'll marry a honey / Who's pretty and funny / And her name will be Ted. -- rigid [Brian Singing to Stewie] Brian Griffin: I'll bet money / You'll marry a honey / Who's pretty and funny / And her name will be Ted. |
